We are delighted to welcome Penelope Harrington DSH, RSHom, MCHI, as a fully qualified Member of the Community Health Initiative. Penelope is a practising homeopath, dowser, singer, alchemist, mother, grandmother and Co-Founding Facilitator of the Community Health Initiative. Here is Penelope's story and her healing approach.

I started my career at the New College of Speech and Drama which was part of the Royal Academy of Music’s Drama Department. This went solo in Anna Pavlova’s House opposite Hampstead Heath before becoming part of Brent Education Authority. During this time, in the 60's, I gained a teaching diploma and taught in both junior and senior schools.

My journey with Homoeopathy, which is my passion, was born in 1975, when pregnant with my first child, I experienced a problem and didn’t want to take conventional medication for this. I was given a lotion by my GP for the itchy rash, and experienced suppression which I knew intuitively was not healing but driving the rash inwards. At that time, I was led by someone I knew towards homeopathy, which is a form of energy healing.

I was given my first homeopathic remedy by a wonderful man who was a self-taught homeopath. He was a Quaker and had been an organic farmer on the Brendon Hills in Somerset. It was as if a light was turned on! The grass was greener, colours seemed brighter and my life and consciousness expanded. I had energy, real energy, and felt my life being propelled forward as if being led by some guiding light. It gave me a sense of personal power that I had previously not experienced and I had the confidence to override others' doubts and warnings to give birth to my child at home. Home is where the heart is, and that is where I have given birth to all my four children, the last being twin sons in 1984. I trained with the National Childbirth Trust in a breathing technique called 'psychoprophylaxis' which worked well for me, and I used breathing and homeopathy to help with all my births at home.

When my daughters and sons were at school, I started my training as a homeopath. My practice, called Rays of Light, grew and I am still learning and growing. My method has developed over time, encompassing many different remedies or medicines as our environment becomes ever more complex and moves further away from Nature. “We must return to the way of Nature” is a quote from Jaqueline Hobbs, known as Oracle Girl, who I work with. I believe this is where we need to return. Nature is another passion of mine, as is healing. It is the frequency of pure love. We are part of nature and of this frequency too.

I have studied with the Indian homeopaths - Dr Rajan Sankeran, Dr Jayesh Shah, The Dr’s Joshi, Dr Dinesh Chauhan, Dr Sujit Chatterjee - and many others. I went to Goa in 2009 to study Structure, Sensitivity and Survival, encompassing the mineral, plant and animal kingdoms.

Subsequently I have attended many workshops led by homeopaths including Peter Tuminello, an Australian homeopath who has written a Materia Medica called Twelve Jewels, also Geoff Johnson known for the Radioactive Remedies, The Lanthanides, The Milk Remedies, Fungi, Birds, Insects, Snakes, The Sea Remedies, Remedies for Mother and Baby, and many others. 

In 2016, I trained under Kim Kalina as Cease Therapist for remedies to help those on the Autistic Spectrum.

My practice Rays of Light has grown like a tapestry using all these beautiful healing remedies. It's like a weaving together of threads just as Penelope, the wife of Odysseus, practised, weaving her tapestry whilst waiting for her husband to return from his Voyages.

I am currently training with Rory Duff in Dowsing. I attend his Discussion Course which is preparation towards the Sacred Network Website and Aquarian Community Initiative to help share our growth and connection at solstices and sacred times, and to help each other in these times of polarity, uncertainty, confusion and change. As two epochs merge, boundaries become confused and identities change, and we raise our consciousness and frequency to become primordial electromagnetic multi-dimensional beings.   As we evolve and reclaim our sovereignty and ourselves as sacred beings, I believe that we all need to help one another, be of service, take each others hands, open our hearts, and join with love as we step onto the Rainbow Bridge connecting us with another world.

I am also very interested in astrology and have completed a course with John Wadsworth from Glastonbury. I believe that everything is connected and part of the rich sacred tapestry called life.
