Community Assembly of Bedale
Serving, supporting and protecting our local community
About Us
The Community Assembly of Bedale is located in a market town in North Yorkshire which forms one of the Yorkshire Dales.
The dale has a predominant agriculture sector and its related small traditional trades. Historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, the town was listed in Domesday Book under what became the Honour of Richmond (a feudal barony). The honour had several wapentakes (the name given to an administrative division of one hundred which is geographically part of a larger region).
The 1945 film The Way to the Stars was filmed with Bedale as the local town for the fictional RAF Halfpenny Field and some of the locations remain little changed. The film stars Sir John Mills and Sir Michael Redgrave as RAF pilots and Bedale is one of a number of locations used during filming.
