Community Assembly of Gloucestershire
Serving, supporting and protecting our local communities
About Us

The Community Assembly of Gloucestershire is located in a county in the South West of England. The county comprises of part of the Cotswold Hills, part of the flat fertile valley of the River Severn and the entire Forest of Dean and the county town is the city of Gloucester.

The county has two green belt areas, the first covers the southern area in the South Gloucestershire district, to protect outlying villages and towns between Thornbury and Chipping Sodbury from the urban sprawl of Bristol. The second belt lies around Gloucester, Cheltenham, and Bishop's Cleeve.

Gloucestershire is a historic county mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in the 10th century, though the areas of Winchcombe and the Forest of Dean were not added until the late 11th century. Gloucestershire originally included Bristol, then a small town, but Bristol is now a separate county.

Community Assemblies are made up of residents concerned about a lack of democratic process at a local and national level, dedicated to preserving and asserting our inalienable rights and obligations to ourselves, the Earth and future generations.
