Community Assembly of West Norfolk

Serving, supporting and protecting our local communities

About Us

The Community Assembly of West Norfolk is currently the borough of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk but prior to that it was simply known as West Norfolk. King’s Lynn is the major town in West Norfolk but was actually known as Bishop’s Lynn until 1537. The 1085 Domesday Book mentions salting’s at Lena (Lynn) an area of partitioned pools may have existed there at the time and this may have given rise to its name. Llyn is a body of water or lake in the Celtic tongue which would have originated from before the Saxons arrived.

Community Assemblies are made up of residents concerned about a lack of democratic process at a local and national level, dedicated to preserving and asserting our inalienable rights and obligations to ourselves, the Earth and future generations.
